I remember the first time I drove through Atlanta after moving away from the big city to Charlottesville. It was night, and Mitch was driving. We hit 75/85 South right when it curves around downtown, and I was like a kid in a candy store. By the time we were through downtown, I had turned around in my seat to soak in the view as long as I could. There is just something amazing about the twinkling lights of the buildings against the dark sky. I don't know how this girl from Dothan, Alabama became a city girl, but she did!
Saturday mornings are family walk time. We usually get up and take Bo for a long walk or to the dog park and then swing by our favorite pastry shop for a coffee and a croissant. We decided to head down to the pier this past Saturday, and I took a few pictures so you can see the view and all of the snow!
Does anyone else get excited by cityscapes as much as Sarah and I?

Amanda, I'm definitely a mountains view kind of girl. The view of a city is pretty...but then it makes me think of how many people live there & start wishing I was somewhere a little more rural! We've had mountain views when we lived in northern CA & now beach views here in FL. (speaking of, I'm pretty sure we are only a couple of hours from Dothan. We live in Niceville - about 20 minutes north of Destin)
Maybe it is a Dothan thing but I do love City Skylines as well! Do you remember as we were driving away from Manhattan on our summer trip, I kept turning around, soaking it up?! But the view at the lake is probably still one of my top favorites. Hope you are staying warm!
Dayle - You are definitely a mountain view kind of girl; you didn't even have to tell me that. :) You do live so close to Dothan, and I know exactly where Niceville is! Destin is about two hours from the circle city (aka Dothan, AL). I would tell you to go visit, only there isn't that much exciting for you to see. :) How long will ya'll be in Niceville?
KT - I do remember you soaking up the view of Manhattan. I also remember you taking a picture of the highrises in Brooklyn. :) What a fun trip we had! And I do have to agree, the view at the lake is pretty amazing!
I LOVE the Chicago skyline. One of my favorite things to do when visitors come is take them to a park on Lake Michigan. We start on the South side and walk North along the lake, when we get on the other side, the City appears. Magnificent.
Sarah, I feel the exact same way about the waterfront. You are walking between buildings and then you hit one spot where the skyline emerges. It makes me smile every time!
Amanda, we will only be here until late April/early May. Chad is in EOD school down here at Eglin. We should find out by the end of the month where we go next...we are keeping our fingers crossed for an overseas (Germany) but east coast is also an option!
Day, Germany sounds amazing! I am crossing my fingers for you!
